Lots o' Green in February!

We eaked out a decent post holiday January (so cold) and February has become event month! Here's what's goin' on at TC Green.
  • Friday the 6th from 5 to 8 we kick off our "Loco Local Art/Craft Show" with a wine and cheese reception! Click here for the Evite. Loco Local is our way of throwing our support behind all of the great local artists who want their work out there... and also a great way for us to meet new folks and get new merchandise in our store. We've received some AMAZING new works that you must check out... items include jewelry, home decor, lamps, bags, furniture, wall art, and more.
  • Valentine's Day is February 14th! We have some really fun/great Valentine's Day gift ideas.
  • February 19th to the 22nd you can find us at St. Paul's Home and Patio Show! We've got a HUGE space to fill - come visit us.
  • As always, catch Ryan (one of the store owners) on the radio every Saturday hosting "Everything Green." Tune into AM950, KTNF.

2009

I just got my computer back - actually a brand new one - from the stupid Geek Squad, so all of my random online work can re-commence. I'm torn about what kind of content to focus on with TCGreenMap.com. I don't want to be redundant with other local green websites. I think maybe we should narrow our focus. Anyway, until I get a few people writing content, there's no way I can really keep up. I can definitely continue to add locations to the map, but as for the rest of the content, I'm gonna need help.

Snow Emergency

Winter has officially landed in Minneapolis as well as the first snow emergency! Although, the weather doesn't seem to be slowing down Twin Cities Green customers thank goodness... we Minnesotans are hearty! The Saturday before Christmas is always hoppin'. I love our customers. The green community is generally friendly and warm folk. It's very rewarding to watch people find that perfect gift and see the relief on their faces when their shopping is done! As soon as the Holiday season settles down, I want to get on finding a crew of people to contribute to this blog. I think it could be a great sounding board for local green individuals to share their opinions, thoughts, advice, and input.

EcoTuesday Holiday Party

Wow!  What a great turn out for EcoTuesday @ Twin Cities Green!  Despite the cold weather and snowy streets, the green community turned out in force for this special holiday version of EcoTuesday.  Great speakers, food, drinks, shopping, and plenty of power networking!  The green community is such a pleasant crowd to hang out with.  Everyone wants to know about what everyone else is up to and everyone is tied together by wanting to tread lighter on our little planet. The Twin Cities is definitely a vibrant shade of green tonight!  A big thank you to Ami, Erika, and Andy with Do It Green! MN and Nora and friends with EcoTuesday for making tonight's event a success. Also a shout out to Peace Coffee, The Red Stag Supper Club, Summit Beer, Two Smart Cookies, Kasia Organic Salon, and Neely Crane-Smith with her MN Energy Challenge!

Let the Blogging Begin...

I've always tried to keep a blog, but with not much success... I think perhaps one of the ways to improve its lasting power is to invite other folk to contribute, which I just did! What might one write or read about on this blog you may ask? I would love to see different individuals contribute a variety of content having anything to do with being and living green. Daily feelings, hopes, dreams, tribulations, aspirations on topics like: reducing waste, water and air quality, transportation, food, products, services, and places, likes and dislikes, best green practices, personal green tips, green businesses... that's just a start. Pictures and links are always encouraged and welcome!

It's Working!

It's taken a few hours, but I've got a decent start. I can believe how difficult it's been to integrate this blog into the associated website. I eventually created my own widget at widgetbox.com. I'm so disappointed that Google Blogger doesn't make this easier. Now I have to add and manage a calendar and figure out a menu. I also want to put in some blank sponsor place holders so potential businesses can see their opportunities on the site.
