Your NEW Organic Mattress!

Why are you still sleeping on your chemically, old, uncomfortable, fire retardanty, dust mitey filled mattress we ask you??? Do you wake up still feeling tired? Do you toss and turn? Does the tag on your mattress read, "treated cotton?" I thought so.

Let me introduce to you what I believe is the cleanest, most comfortable, most natural and organic mattress (for the price) I have found in my two years of looking... available exclusively in Minnesota at Twin Cities Green.

Savvy Rest's Serenity Mattress! Three, 3" layers of all natural dunlop or talalay latex, surrounded by a brass zippered casing made with organic cotton and wool. No springs mean no pressure points to make you toss and turn. No chemical fire retardants mean no nasty toxins for your body to process while you're sleeping. Three independent layers of latex in a zippered casing, means we can fully customize your firmness to suit your sleeping style - and with the ability to split the latex layers down the middle, we can seperately cusomize the mattress for you and your sleeping partner's differing needs. Worried about dust mites? Dust mites definitely DON'T like bedding in the latex or the wool that surrounds it.

Visit Twin Cities Green now to give the Serenity a test run... you'll wonder how you ever slept without it.

10" Serenity, Dunlop Mattress pricing
Twin or Twin XL: $1349, Full: $1849, Queen: $1999, King: $2499, CA King: $2599

We Win! Best Baby Goods Store

The City Pages has once again recognized the efforts of Twin Cities Green by naming us on of the Best of the Twin Cities in the category of "Best Baby Goods Store!" We've worked pretty hard on sourcing the most Earth and Baby friendliest products out there. Being parents ourselves, we recognize the importance giving your little one every chance in the world, especially when it comes to health and happiness! Our products have been thoroughly researched (and trust me, there's PLENTY of research to do) to bring the most concerned and aware parent a sense of comfort. We also offer parents to be the ability to register for our great baby gear. It's a great way to have some control over the deluge of gifts parents get from excited friends, co-workers, and relatives. Here's what the City Pages had to say:
It's a sad truth that even in this day and age products intended to be used by infants and children are not always completely safe. Plastic baby bottles in particular—even from well-respected companies like Gerber and Evenflo—are known to leach a dangerous toxin called bisphenol A. New parents are busy enough without having to research every product they bring into their homes. To save Minnesotans the trouble, Ryan and Tina North, co-owners of the new Twin Cities Green store, have done the work for us, and they stock only products known to be safe. The store has an impressive baby and children's area stocked with cribs, mattresses, sheets, organic cotton diapers, glass bottles, natural latex pacifiers, and a collection of super-cute booties and onesies. What's more, the store makes shopping easy by providing a gift registry service for expecting moms and dads.

Earth Hour, Saturday, March 28th, 8:30-9:30

VOTE EARTH
Earth Hour is coming up this Saturday and I think it's a great opportunity for you, your family, your workplace, or your favorite restaurant to participate in a fun, practical, and symbolic environmental gesture! A great way to raise some awareness in your community regarding energy savings. The idea is to turn off your lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30pm (in your own time zone). Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

Twin Cities Green (my shop) is closed at 7:00, but we'll be sure to turn off ALL of our lights overnight. At home, I plan on having a lights out event at home. We'll light up some soy candles and maybe play some games. One of the best lights out games to play is Sardines! Love it!

Here in the Twin Cities, a couple of young environmentalists have heeded the call to organize a grass roots effort to get the word out about "Earth Hour." They're calling their movement "Lights Out Twin Cities." Join their Facebook page here. They're doing a great job too... they already have a great list of participating buildings in downtown Minneapolis. Check it out:
